Year 9 Health and Physical Education

COURSE CONTENT:
Year 9 Health and Physical Education provides students with the opportunity to build on some of the basic Health and Movement skills developed in Year 8 Health and Physical Education. Students develop health literacy skills to support the health and well-being for themselves and others. They investigate sport and movement concepts at a deeper level and learn how to create and modify physical activity to improve or enhance performance and participation.
Topics covered are:
Adolescent Health Issues: Students will learn about mental and emotional health and where to seek help. Topics include Resilience, Stress, Depression, Seeking Help, Supporting Others, Reducing the Stigma.
Minor Games and Games Making: Game creation and production of rules assessment. Collaborative/group work, leadership (teaching) and interaction. Active participation and contribution in all activities.
Sport Education: Examining the different roles needed to organise tournaments, examine team roles and support structures and how they assist the success of the team.
Students will be required to change into their PE uniform for practical lessons.
ASSESSMENT:
All assessment tasks will be assessed against the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
Tasks include:
- Presenting assignment work in multi-modal formats.
- Participation and involvement in conducting a tournament.
- Developing and performing in minor games.
