Year 9 Sports Performance

COURSE CONTENT:
Year 9 Sports Performance provides students with the opportunity to build on some of the basic skills developed in Year 8 Health and Physical Education. This course is designed for students who have an interest in completing Physical Education in the senior years. A stronger emphasis is placed on skill development and performance improvement through analysis of data.
Students will complete a selection of practical activities. For at least two of these practical activities, students will focus on one or more movement concepts or strategies to critically reflect on their own and/or another person’s performance. Students will explore and analyse evidence of physical activity to reflect on their strengths and areas for improvement. Evidence includes game data, video analysis, fitness data, and/or literature research performance. Activities may include Badminton, Cricket, Touch, Volleyball and Hockey.
Theoretical topics include:
- Fitness components, testing and training
- Physiology & Anatomy & energy systems
Students will be required to change into their PE uniform for practical lessons.

- Sports profile task
- Performance analysis task
- Presenting assignment work in multi-modal
- Assignments
