Year 8 Mathematics

COURSE CONTENT:
In this subject, students are expected to demonstrate understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning over a range of mathematical topics, as described by the Australian Curriculum.
These include:
- Number and Algebra (number and place value, real numbers, money and financial mathematics, patterns and algebra, linear and non-linear relationships);
- Measurement and Geometry (using units of measurement, geometric reasoning); and
- Statistics and Probability (chance, data representation and interpretation).
ASSESSMENT:
Students will be assessed according to criteria established by the Australian Curriculum achievement standards.
Student assessment will be based on a combination of skills and applications tasks and folio tasks.
Contextual problem solving and real-life examples will be accessed to develop student understanding, fluency, and reasoning.
